As you may already know, our chosen charity for 2018 is Lincolnshire LIVES – the team of first responders in the county.
A big chunk of the funds raised will be generated thanks to the mission our Chief Executive Nick has set himself: to complete 50 challenges to celebrate his 50th year.
The challenges range from helping out in the restaurant at our Olsen Court scheme and being our receptionist for the day (which he has already done), to tackling the Lincoln 10K and cycling from Lincoln to Skegness!
The 50-mile cycle ride takes place on Friday 18th May and money raised will be shared equally between LIVES and Skegness RNLI, specifically to help fund the station’s insure lifeboat.
Nick will be joined by Lincs Independent Living Partnership colleagues Chris Wheway from St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, Murray McDonald from Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (formerly Boston Mayflower), plus Tracey Morrison and Chris Vardy on behalf of LACE Housing.
They will also be transporting one of the RNLI’s yellow welly boots as part of the charity’s east coast welly relay – a journey from Aldeburgh to Cleethorpes. Thanks to Nick and co it will (should!) arrive at RNLI Skegness in time for the station’s family fun day on Sunday 20th May.
Later in the year, Nick will be joined by a team of 12 friends and colleagues for the Lincoln 10K, which takes place on Sunday 1st July.
Other challenges will include presenting on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, battering a fish and modelling in a fashion show!
