If you’re in danger now
What to do immediately
If you ever feel unsafe, help is available right now — your safety always comes first.
If you can’t speak, follow the operator’s guidance — you may be prompted to press 55 to connect directly to the police.
Abuse isn’t always physical. It can be emotional, psychological, coercive or controlling, threatening, sexual or financial — and it can happen in any relationship.
Contact our Housing and Support Team — 01522 514444 or housing@lacehousing.org. We’ll listen, believe you, and agree safe times to talk. We’ll explain your options clearly and support your choices without pressure.
If someone is at serious risk, we may need to share information with safeguarding partners — but we’ll always explain what’s happening whenever it’s safe to do so.
People: We believe and support survivors.
Places: We make homes safe and respectful.
Partnerships: We work with trusted agencies to protect you.

Practical, person-centred support
Safety planning, housing options, and emotional care
When you tell us about abuse, we’ll listen first, then agree a plan focused on your safety and wellbeing.
We’ll listen, and take what you say seriously. Together we’ll agree a plan that focuses on safety, housing and emotional support.
If you want to stay where you are and it’s safe to do so, we can discuss security improvements and tenancy rights to help you feel protected.
If you need to move, we’ll work with local authorities and trusted partners to find safe, suitable housing — temporary or permanent.
Our Housing Managers receive specialist training to respond with empathy and dignity, helping you regain confidence and control.
Staying in control
Understanding your options and privacy
You decide what happens next. We’ll respect your choices and explain your rights every step of the way.
You don’t need police evidence to receive support from us. We’ll believe you, act respectfully, and help you access guidance that fits your situation.
You can ask the police if a partner or ex-partner has a history of abuse. You can also request information on behalf of someone you’re worried about.

In some pharmacies, banks and Jobcentres you can discreetly say “ANI” (Action Needed Immediately) to be taken to a private space and supported to contact services. Safe Spaces also offer a secure room for calls.
We may share details with safeguarding partners only when necessary to prevent serious harm or protect others. We’ll always tell you when it’s safe to do so.
