Providing a Quality of Life
and a Standard of Living

As a keen walker, I have had a desire to walk from the west coast to the east coast for many years. This was later fueled by the television series hosted by Julia Bradbury in which she explored Alfred Wainright's walk, from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay. With grateful thanks to the Board of Management, it was agreed that such a challenge would be one of many ways in which to mark the 50th Anniversary of LACE Housing Association and to raise much needed funds towards the cost of a purpose built vehicle to enable residents confined to a wheelchair to maintain independence and overcome isolation and loneliness through the provision of outings. The vehicle to be externally liveried in gold in recognition of the Associations Golden Jubilee.
Whilst the Coast to Coast walk was a personal ambition, the level of support received has been overwhelming both prior to and during the walk. There are so many people and organisations to thank it would be impossible to mention  everyone, however, I am sure that you know who you are. I am delighted to announce that indications are that donations and sponsorship could reach £10,000.
When I originally explored the idea of walking from Coast to Coast, I had made the assumption that this would be alone. However, following a mention in the Associations Newsletter and a little encouragement, a team of willing volunteers came forward,  without whom, I now realise, I would not have made it. Together we experienced the most challenging stages of the walk during the most adverse weather conditions. Without their knowledge and encouragement I could not have done it, so thank you Philip, Sarah, Bob, Rachel, Sara, Phil, Helen, Craig, Nick, Kate and Trevor for being part of this trek across the country and for sharing in some truly amazing moments along the way.
Finally, heartful thanks go to our respective families for their unconditional support and allowing us to be away from home for such a long time.
