Coast to Coast Day 5

Following a lovely breakfast (thanks Margaret),  the team were faced with their longest walk yet, 20.5 miles, destination - Kirkby Stephen. Crossing the M6, there was a change in the landscape.

Leaving the Lake District behind them, they faced the rolling hills and moorland of the Pennines. Being softer underfoot helped aching feet and blisters. Equally, so did the application of Deep Heat and the taking of medication, anything to numb the pain! Weather stayed fine and many caught the sun ending the day with red faces. A steady pace and continued encouragement ensured that they reached Kirkby Stephen early evening to be greeted with an excellent cup of tea. The first of a number of walkers joined the team during the evening. Sara Hobson arrived safely having left her car in Robin Hoods Bay. Note to other walkers joining over the coming week, don't leave your walking boots in the car! It's great to have Sara on board and they look forward to Helen and Craig joining the team on Tuesday evening and Nick, Kate and Trevor on Thursday evening for the final 20 miles. Having been away for nearly a week, everyone is missing family and friends. A big thank you to everyone for the text messages and emails of encouragement that keep coming through.  They are a shared with the team and it is great to know that everyone is thinking of them back home.

Whilst Day 6 is forecast to be wet, the team face the challenge of 15 miles and a mountain 720 metres high!
